Hi everyone, I have been dealing with this white / green film covering all my rockwork for the past couple of months.

I took these pictures with the lights out as it is easier to see what I am talking about, but you can see that white / green looking film coating the top of much of my rockwork.

Additionally I have lost my gold hammer and another of my hammers is greatly receding as well. I am thinking this must be related.

This stuff does not seem to want to come off as I have done 3 20% w/c’s this week (Sun. / Wed. / Sat.) and scraped at it with a toothbrush and it appears to be un-phased.

I has also done a treatment of chemi-clean leading up to the first 20% w/c on Sun and that didn’t seem to touch it.

I am struggling as this doesn’t look like what I would typically expect for Dinos, but I don’t know what else it would be at this point.

Anyone have any thoughts or ideas?

The lighter green stuff could be coraline. The darker green stuff may be hair algae but its hard to tell from the pictures. Do you have any CUC in there? I didn't see any in your photos. Might grab some snails to help clean off the rock work.

Phos fluctuates around .07 and nitrate is 0-2ppm (probably lower than it should be)

Looks like a combination of diatom and algae
A few questions below will clarify cause.
You can reduce white light intensity and add some cleaner snails to maintain country. Chemically, liquid vibrant or fluconasal (flux) will break this down
Snails:
Turbo
Astrea
Trochus
Nassarius
8-10 blue leg hermit crabs

-IS TANK AT OR NEAR A WINDOW ?
-ARE YOU USING RODI WATER OR TAP WATER FROM THE FAUCET ?
- what is your phosphate and nitrate levels?
- TYPE OF LIGHTING YOURE USING ?

a bit more background. Tank is about 1 year old (bare bottom). I have been dosing vibrant biweekly since I cycled the tank to keep algae in check (have increased vibrant dosing to every few days since this stuff got a foothold)

IS TANK AT OR NEAR A WINDOW ? Nope in a dark corner receiving no direct light and very minimal indirect light.

-ARE YOU USING RODI WATER OR TAP WATER FROM THE FAUCET ? RODI, 0 tds (monitored with a handheld HM tds meter)

- what is your phosphate and nitrate levels? .07 phos, 0-2ppm nitrate

- TYPE OF LIGHTING YOURE USING ? Red Sea reef led (this led doesn’t let youcontrol individual channels and leans toward the blue spectrum so not concerned about too much white light)

pics of tank from end of oct. for ref. (color shift is from trying different photo filters)
