Been battling this for several months now. About 2 months ago my tank hit zero NO3 and PO4 which resulted in what I thought was just a nasty cyano / brown algae outbreak. I eventually was forced to chemiclean the tank which solved the cyano problem but I still can't figure out what's growing on my sand. My rocks are clean aside from a bit of hair algae. I figured it was just diatoms but not so sure anymore, especially since my Si seems to be in normal range. Could this be Dinos?

Tank has been running about 9 months now and all corals and fish doing well. I've been keeping it under control by stirring the sand daily but that's getting real old. The growth follows the photo period getting much worse during the day and dying back over night. Lighting is a combo of LED & T5.

Current Parameters:
Salinity: 1.026
PO4: .04 ppm
NO3: 1-2 ppm
Alk: 7.8
Calc: 450
MG: 1400
Si: 130

How old is the tank. Looks like a diatom or cyano.

9 months. Recently chemicleaned the tank which took care of cyano so don't think that is it.

Got a microscope today. Can anyone ID these Dinos please?
