I have this algae (for lack of a better term) growing around my lunar eclipes polyps.
It is a little more red that the picture shows. It is very short, maybe 1/4".
It seems to be growing like it is encrusting, rather than up, and it is very slow growing.

I'm no expert but looks more like an Anemone than algae. I may be wrong. Looks like stinging cells on all the tips. Have you touched it with anything to see if it moves or try to feed it.

I'll get some better pics.
There is a tiny bit of byropsis, but I'm leaning towards a lps.

The red is pretty close to the exact color and I do see a green base.

Try to take a pic with those tentacles deflated so we can see the structure of the skeleton/foot.

Ok I now know that it isn't algae, but a lps.

I never had this piece turned around like this. I only saw what was coming over the top.
Any idea what kind?

OK, now that I know I don't have some mutant algae, I did some fragging today and here is the results.

it does look like galaxea but in the pic where the skeliton is exposed it dosent seem to have the toothy patern of galaxea.

I may be WAY off, but any chance of some sort of encrusting goniopora? If no, please explain the difference so I will know....that's just what came to mind first....
