Hey Guys

The tank is about 4 months old now. I had a initial diatoms outbreak mainly on the sand but now I have a crazy algae problem. It doesn't look like Diatoms and my P04 levels have been constantly 0 for months before and after the outbreak so I'm very confused.

Can someone help me ID from the following pictures, its moslty little hairs about 5-8mm long but it parts its pretty snotty (see on rocks). It is even growing under the rock ledge where there is no light, all over glass, cords etc everywhere really.

Im thinking maybe a type of Cyno? Not sure...

I couldn't tell from pictures if it was cyano or hair algae but you can battle both the same. Do lots of water changes. Suck up as much of it as you can. Also the new water will lower nutrients and raise mag. Sometimes low mag cause wierd hair algae breakouts don't know why. Phosphates may be part of the issue but they test low because they are used up by algae. Try phosgaurd and Purigen. Reactor is best but you can just put them in a filter bag in high flow area of sump. This is common to have an algae bloom while your tank gets to know itseld. Phosgaurd also helps with diatom bloom. Then lots of snails and hermits. Algae blenny if your tank is large enough.

Also if you are using tap water be aware that it is common for it to be loaded with phosphates. Also flow will help especially with cyano.
