A month and a half in I have now developed some algae growth. Unfortunately I believe its the worst one I have read about. Is this Bryopsis ? I seem to have the worst of luck so I knew this hobby wasn't going to be easy. If it is in fact Bryopsis how can I treat it without ripping entire tank apart ? Most of my rock is glued together for stability so if the solution is manual removal I guess Im starting over.

I am not expert so ill just add some filler while you wait for a real answer but lots of good info on that stuff such as -> https://reefhacks.com/bryopsis-fluconazole-dosage/ .

I have had just about every type of algae. I think if you own a reef tank you will get hit with algae and parasites and if you cant be ok with that then its a tough hobby. im going through a hair algae phase because I have a new tank I just upgraded. I worried about everything in with my 65 gallon tank and it made parts of it less fun. This one I am going to just understand those things will come and go and I can deal with them. I actually am noticing lots of vermetid snails in this tank must have came in on the like rock.

I guess my only thought is at some point you will get the bad and the good in this hobby each is solvable in time.

Nice call. And if disassembly isn’t an option if the tank is large, then drain access directly isn’t hard, just drain the water level down into a brute, fish swim down low. Kill the algae while in the air directly, refill using same water / harmless direct access trick to add to what’s stated above

Going to try a treatment of Fluconazole as it has been stated to kill Bryopsis. I will try and keep the post updated with pics on the progress.
