Any ideas? I am a teacher and will get microscope pics tomorrow. It is a 3 year old tank but recently broken down and transferred. All sand and everything used before was reused for this as well. Pictures attached. Thanks in advance.

Looks like GHA mixed with some brown dino/diatom stuff.
Microscope pics should confirm.

I forgot to ask. I haven’t cleaned the glass yet and I saw these markings on it. It is in one of the pictures. Any idea what would cause these?

Grazing marks from probably a Blenny.

I do not have pictures as I didn't even think to grab them (made a lesson out of it with the science teacher). But I did confirm GHA and ostreopsis dinos. I also forgot to mention that I did bottom out my Nitrates and phosphates. I have to slowly get them up. I do not have a UV filter unfortunately and do not have the means to get one either. In the mean time my plan is to raise the temp a little, dos NeoNitro and NeoPhos, dos Microbacter7, remove it and change socks daily, and then lower photo period. Anything else I am missing I should be thinking of? I'd rather stay away from a blackout period when it seems to be weakening.

Best way to fight ostreopsis dino is with UV plumbed directly into the display. Run carbon as well to help with the toxins. I used the green killing machine as an affordable option for UV. Not the best uv but it does work.

Yeah that’s what I’m looking for. Not trying to break the bank so I’ll look into it. Thanks!
