Algae ID - Short, Course, Bristly & Dark Red/Black

Anyone have any thoughts on what this is? I would have guess turf algae of some kind, but it never gets longer than this. I don't know if something in my tank is keeping it trimmed, but it stays super short. It's course, almost like a hair brush.

This isn't the greatest photo, but you can see it pretty clearly near this acan:

I had this, it spreads and even grew on sand and rocks...i got rid of it by, siphoning out the top layer of sand that got it and raising magnesium to 1400 and a couple mexican turbo's
