Algae ID?

So I do apologize about not having the best pic since this is a tank I'm purchasing off of a friend and he sent me not the best pic of the algae.

The best way I could describe it is that its an algae that has a stem or vine that has more of a Pom Pom resemblance and it resembles Cambomba (fresh water plant)

Posting pic of cambomba so you can see what I'm trying to describe.

The algae I see in the first picture is Bryopsis. Also I see one sprig of Caulerpa to the right.

Blah on both of those diagnosis. Yes I know about the normal caulerpa sprig in the pic but crap on Caulerpa-verticillata (which is what I'm leaning torwards believing it is.)

I hate how bryopsis and caulerpa have such so many species named under one group of algae.

Well I've beaten bryopsis in one of my tanks and it now looks like I get to battle Caulerpa-verticillata in this tank any suggestions on how to do this other then the common ones I've already mentioned.

LOL RM yep id say its the Caulerpa-verticillata (or something very similar) that you mentioned and not the bryopsis.


I can also see the reef forums are just like the car or martial art forums that I'm on full of peeps that seem to get annoyed by questions.

Well I already did a search for caulerpa and bryopsis (since those were the two I had suspicions of it being due to the vine) before hand and looked on several forums algae id threads an none of the ones I saw had the Caulerpa-verticillata (same as that link) hence why I created a thread for my question.
