That is an algae you want to get rid of carefully. Use a razor and get under it. Do not squish it between your fingers.
As for the name I have not found one yet.
 
I believe that is bryopsis. Def get that out carefully.
 
How would I have this with new dry rock, sand, and nothing added except CUC??? All rock was bleached, acid bathed, and cured for months. CUC came from reef cleaners
 
guaranteed. only a tiny microscopic portion of the plant needed to hitch on a snail shell and then vector into the tank. its unpreventable in my opinion, only what we can do after the import matters, and to me its whatever the most creative and thorough removal by hand would be.

I know the strictest QT could allow these riders to fruit out and be identified before DT transfer, but so few people will do that hence all the follow up wars we wage on bryopsis lol.

For sure bryopsis. Get under it and don't smash it. Best of luck it's a battle of it starts to spread.
