Hello all,
Can someone id the algae in the pics, it's on majority of the rocks and the frags. My tank has been running for about 2 years. The parameters are as follows.

Alk: 9.0
Magnesium: 1320
Phosphate: .03
Nitrates: undetectable
pH: 8.0

How do get rid of it, any ideas what's causing it.
Cause. It was introduced into the system somehow.

Manual removal is most effective or clean up crew. I would look a little deeper into the diagnosis to make sure Its a turf algae. Is it wiry? or like a brillo pad? Turf algae usually comes off a frag plug quite easily.. If the nutrients are low and you can get as much out as possible quite often a good selection of snails will keep it down.
If its only on some rocks you can also dip in a peroxide saltwater solution.

Seems like a brillo pad. Almost grass like.

I have sent a sample to Triton labs let's see what comes back.
It wont tell you anything about your algae. Algae and coral (and a few otheres) all live on the same things. Algaes are only present in an aquarium because they are introduced.
Id try scrubbing with a tooth brush and getting some small turbos.

I will find out what is my phosphate and nitrate levels are, cuz my Hanna checker is waqq. I never get one result if I try 3 tests I will get 3 different results.. I tried using a brush to it but it won't come off.

May want to get a couple more snails. Maybe try a couple turbos. A few more hermits also.
Any snails I put in don't last more then a couple of weeks, [emoji26] don't know why. That's why ordered the Triton test before adding anymore snails. The fish are OK just the snails die in a couple of weeks.
