Any ideas on this? My nitrates are 8 and phosphate is .08, I thought maybe some type of cyano, it blows off the rocks pretty easy with my turkey baster, I suppose it could be dinos but has no bubbles in it at all

no, they are all doing well, i have moved a couple around a couple of weeks ago and added a couple of new ones a few days ago, and used super glue on all of them, so i thought that maybe the glue curing may have caused it.

I haven’t seen glue much of anything in a tank really.

Any other changes in the system? New lights ? New foods? New coral?

Mine appeared after a large colony died.

Same lights and food, i did add a few acans and a couple of mushrooms a month ago or so

I would go with Chrysophytes. Coloration can vary due to its nature of trapping available food. Start with manual removal. Ridged tube with airline tubing to spot siphon should help. Sometimes if you can manually remove most if not all, regrowth is limited to none.

Have we done the shake and coffee filter test on known chrysophytes?
(As far as I know, we haven't.)
If they aren't motile (motionless in every microscope observation) then they may not regroup like dinos do.

I think they do have a motile phase from reading about them, but I don't recall seeing it in any photos. Not sure what the pattern is with them for motile/non-motile.

Thanks, that will be my next course of action

Thanks for the replies, I learn about a new type of algae every few months or so...
