Not new. Has been up since like early June. I did just add fish about 3 weeks ago.

Have u check parameter ? Since adding the fish U woulda increased feeding the tank right ? Due to the fish and then they natural expel waste into the water ! Your nutrients are probably high

Do some healthy 20% water change weekly and increase or get ur clean up Crew before it become to big off a issue the cuc will eat that **** up while it’s small

I had some snails, have currently about 5-8 astrea , 3-5 cerith (really small) and a few really really tiny nassarius and 3 big nassarius.

BTW somehow my emerald crab came it into the back of my aio... is it doomed ? I can't fish it out....

I assume u have a nutrient export system ? Skimmer Cheato esc?
I have a skimmer but every time I set it up the darn thing just causes a million microbubbles and im not sure if its really working..... I currently have a small nano carbon reactor running where the skimmer would be.

yes find out if you have high phosphates and no3 that why ur seeing algae now
My porcelain crab survived 1 year in my sump but his a filter feeder so idk I’d fish that one out for he eats the **** off of the rocks

Get that skinner working unless u wanna do more frequent water changes

The water changes 1 time a week really don't bother me. But would it be more beneficial if I ran the skimmer and did both?

well see you are experience a small out break I think of green turf algae or the start of GHA. Or it could just be the uglies which look like your first two photos (which will go away on its own with age).

but what im talking about is the green on your rocks.

You say tank has been running since june so its still a new tank but you said that you havent had any fish in it the entire time until just recently. then boom you have algae ! This is because you are now feeding your tank and your fish are pooping and leaving waste in the water. So Algae feeds on nutrients (phos. & NO3). if you dont have anything to out compete the bad algae say with some good algae in sump or have a decent nutrient export then your tank will grow algae and algae eats the nutrients.

so yes it would be a great benefit to use skimmer with water change. Also What are your Parameters ?

can you list Parameter's ?
What size tank ?
any coral ?

I had fish in the tank in June but got marine velvet so I went fallow for 2 months. I have a Red sea reefer 20g max AIO so I am limited on room, I was running a small UV sterilizer but last night after reading responses I decided to take it out and swap it for my skimmer that has been running for 12 hours now. As far as corals go here is what I have:

Dragon Soul Torch
Jester or Joker Purple Torch
Orange mushroom ( got from a friend and just said it was a mushroom)

Phosphate 0.03
Calcium 500
Nitrate 0
Ammonia 0

okay so the nutrients are looking good but that dosent mean the algae isnt eating it all up. ID keep that skimmer running correctly and do water changes weekly. should go away on its own. All algae need to grow is food and light. reduce the food it gets and bye bye algae.
