Long tube like algae in my Zoa. Any ideas or anything that can eat it?

Looks like a kind of gha, might be too long/hard now for snails, but urchin, hermits, and emerals should still go after it.

Also look up valonia fastigiata. Can't tell from pic if its that. But if it does look like that, the emeralds will eat it (thats how i fixed mine). Just need to make sure you don't have gha elsewhere bc emeralds will go after gha first cuz its easier.

Vibrant can work with both but you will need to follow instructions to a Tee

Reef flux work if its gha.

Thanks! I used reef flux before and it worked great for a few months but it’s been creeping back. Trying a more natural approach this time. I do have some GHA and just got 2 emeralds today. My hermits don’t seem to be interested in any of my algae lol and my urchin just eats my coraline

Hermits like the small new gha sprouts so its sometimes hard to see their "contribution" but its there.

Emeralds should work.

Keep in mind that the purpose of the CUC is NOT algae removal, they eat the algae, use up a bit of nutrient to grow, then poop most out. So their purpose really is to keep the nutrient more in "liquid form". So, all else being equal, CUC will cause algae to grow faster bc if CUC clears out the algae that was already on the rocks, then that means there's less competition for nutrient so new algae will have a easier time to grow.

A more effective way of using CUC is that you gotta up the nutrient export/filtration game too. The CUC will keep the nutrient in water longer and the increased nutrient export will ensure that it had a higher chance to be pulled out by exports.

A fuge is the best method for my tank.

Yeah the algae is keeping my system ULNS but I want a bit “dirtier” for my LPS (tank is lps dominated) but my algae keeps stripping it all. Tanks in my room and it’s a lm AIO so I don’t have a super big area for a fuge because I also don’t want to run the light off hours or will keep me up all night
