Does anyone know what this is? It's appearing on my frags. It's quite filamentous, does tear off. Thanks.

Looks like bryopsis to me, a particularly difficult algae to eradicate. I'd be very wary of putting that frag into my own tank for fear of that spreading.

I believe fluconazole is the only surefire way to kill it but you can maybe try 3% hydrogen peroxide that you apply with a Q-tip directly to the algae itself. If it were a coral like zoas or maybe a softie I'd say dip the whole thing in peroxide but that looks like a favia or maybe a platygyra brain coral and I don't think they tolerate peroxide dips very well.

thanks, I was afraid of that. Frags came from Top Aquatics. I treated with hydrogen peroxide today. We're already dosing magnesium pretty high which is probably what is keeping it under control, those frags have been in there for months. I ordered Coral Rx.
