I have this red-ish algae looking stuff growing in my tank that I cant seem to beat yet. Does anyone know what kind this is or how to beat it? My levels claim they are in order or not out of whack.

Yikes, those look like red wire algae? (Gelidium)

Do they have runners thats hard to pull off? Do they break apart easily?

They are hard to remove. I had them at one point and ended up taking the whole rock out and soaked in peroxide.

If that's not an option, then get ready for a battle, start with manual removal using dental picks and tweezer as much as possible. Whatever remaining go with direct application of peroxide. So it small batch at a time bc you dont want to OD ur tank on peroxide. 1ml of 3% per 10 gallon seem to be the safe dose but I've gone as far as 3ml per.

Good luck

Yes, it's hard to pull off. Can't really scrub it off either. Driving me nuts.

Sound like wire algae, sorry mate. You can search to forum specifically for this type of algae to see if there are any tips. Im my memory this is one of those that needs brute force.
