Hi All,

My tank has been up and running for about a month and a half post cycle. I thought I had what looked like the traditional diatom bloom, but now I’m not so sure. The brown looks a little more stringy and seems to have some bubbles, which is a bit concerning. I’d love some help with the id and any suggestions on dealing with it, or if it’s just the wait and it will clear bloom of a newer tank. Pic attached, parameters below.

ph-8.0
Salinity-1.025
Ammonia-0
Nitrite-0
Nitrate-Reading below 5, however I’m wondering if the bloom is binding it and I’m not getting a true reading

Appreciate the help as always!

Good news is, if its only on the sand bed, which it does look like, its one of two, prorocentrum or ostreopsis, both of which can be beaten with uv and a blackout period.

+1 to get a cheap kids microscope.
