I would really appreciate any help identifying this algae and maybe how to remedy. We first thought it was a form of Cyano, but Chemiclean appears to have done nothing. Brown color with some stringy texture in some areas. There are no bubbles that I see. Nitrates are around 3 and Phosphate around 0.02 according to ICP. Silicates on ICP test were 0.198.

Thanks for the reply. I have not increased water flow, but I can certainly try that. Can you tell me what your thoughts are on the type of Algae? I am assuming you are thinking Cyano. I originally thought that until Chemiclean didn't touch it. It also grows on some rocks that get blasted with flow.

If it's spirulina, ChemiClean won't touch it. But usually, I've been told spirulina looks more like cyano (reddish, not really brown), but I have no direct experience with spirulina.

Thanks for the reply. I have been told it could very well be diatoms since my silica from ICP came back 0.198. I had always thought diatoms to be dusty, not stringy. It is certainly a learning process.
