It's it single strand of algae, or do they kinnda branch?

Thanks for the additional photo. Yep, that's gteen hair alga. (GHA) Nip it in the bud now or you know what can happen.

Anyone ever tried a sea hare? If it releases the purple die will it ruin my tank?

It doesn't look bad enough to add a critter specific to eat it, you'd be surprised how fast they can decimate a food source.

I'd go for manual removal, keep up with your water changes and it'll go away. Or beef up your clean up crew.

Yeah I was about to order a cuc to refresh the one I have now and just thought about ordering one of them at same time. Thanks! I'll just stick with cuc.
