Hello I have this tank up and running for about 2 years, right now I am having an issue with a carpet type algae, it grows on all the rocks, glass, and structures and on the sand and burrowing into the sand. The one thing I wanted on this tank was 0% movement of my sand. So every three days I blow off everything, then the algae floats to the top and I suck it out with a turkey baster. I have tried just about every type of algae killer out there, nothing has worked
My tank has 6 fish, 2 clowns, 3 cardinals, dottyback. this tank is not heavily fed. I am running GFO, it started with a 1 finger wide, and now I am at 3 fingers wide in a small reactor, I checked for PO4 and of course, it came up 0%.
This algae will live in a container for a week fresh or saltwater and even small doses of bleach. It is a though algae.

Has anyone experienced this type of algae and maybe know the name of it, it is green with bubbles lies like carpet or a mat.?
Thanks in advance

Yes, I tried Vibrant and Algae Fix plus I used Flconazole. I am going to stop using pellets I think that will go along way in stopping adding PO4

Have you tried an algae turf scrubber in the sump turn down the whites in the display and turn them up in the sump maybe you can migrate the algae to only grow on the scrubber. You can make one pretty cheap they have the main pipe pre cut with screen you can buy off of eBay for like 5 bucks and just get you a 90 degree elbow and short pipe from hardware store and a small pump

Ok I have turned down my whites in my LED, I used an oversized Cheato Reactor and pulled a full loadout, I think this was the beginning of my problem I pulled too much out, I think I have dino's, cynao's os something like that.

This stuff is green with bubbles, I let it grow for 4 days and it was getting so thick that it was lifting off the sand due to the bubbles, my glass was covered, I have just increased my GFO usage. So I am going to pull my GFO and increase my feeding.

Do you think it is Dino's?
