I have some hair algae (at least I think it's hair aglae) in my corner overflow of my 75g RR tank.

The algae is ONLY in the overflow.. I do not see it anywhere else in my DT or sump.

Should I leave the algae alone? Scrape it out? Throw some snails in there?

If you can clean it, I would clean it. No use in letting it be there. Clean it outside of the tank, just in case.

I get that too. Keep an eye on your water level and if it starts rising pull some out. I think of it as a free algae scrubber...

Can you remove the overflow? If so tooth brush it, with tap water. Another option is if you can remove the overflow hit it will a quick vinegar bath, tooth brush and rise with tape water. If the overflow is non removable then tooth brush it.

Also check you nitrates and phosphates, this what is causing your green hair algae.

thank you for the responses!

I can't remove the overflow. it's stuck in place.

Testing is all good, no phos, nitrates is very low (forget the numbers, but it's low)

I will clean it on my next water change. I like the idea of a free scrubber, lol

It's only on the glass too, not the pipes. Weird

Is it hair algae? @jsker

What is your flow? Mr Clean Original also works greats on the stuff with some stats of tongs. Make sure it is the Original. I have used them in the tank to clean the glass, holds all the bad stuff:)

Mr Clean as in the magic eraser? I think I have some!

It's the standard corner overflow that is part of the reef-ready marineland tank. Am I using the incorrect term for the overflow?
