hey guys,

Could i get some advice?
I have an algae free displaytank but cant seem to get algae under control in my quarantine system.

Its a 15gal with a small hob filter with a seeded sponge.

Only inhabitant is a clownfish and im not feeding much at all. Like 1/16 of a frozen brine cube once a day or less. In the display i fed twice daily.

How do people manage nutrient export in a quarantine system? Im allready doing waterchanges about every 7-10 days while i do one in 3 weeks in my dt.

Also i do remove leftover food every other day or so.

Ammonia and nitrite are in check and my clown is doing fine but hell it looks awfull.

Any help appreciated!

I believe most of us only use ambient room lighting on our fish QT's. It looks like you have a dedicated light fixture. Are you running it often?

Like 8 hours and its a 10€ led from amazon. Was meant for a freshwatertank i think. The tank is in the livingroom which is very bright anyways...

U think that might cause the issue?

Yup, I think that is at least making it worse. I do keep a cheap light on my fish QT when it is set up, but I only turn it on for observation. I also avoid direct sunlight on my QT.

It might look bad but its providing filtration. Id set up a small waterfall ats in there.

For aeration? My hob is allready placed above the water level so it auerates the water. But you are right, its additional filtration so i should mind it much right?

A waterfall algae turf scrubber. It will cause the algse ti grow in the fiter and not in the tank.

How large are your water changes? I do 25% every week on my QT/Frag tank. 20 gallon tank.
20-25% aswell. Im currently looking into lighting. Also temperature might be an issue atm since its really hot here atm.
