I am still new to this and wanted to know if this was normal and if there was anything I needed to do?

the refugium is exactly the place where you want algae to grow and continue to grow. They will consume your trace elements so you’ll need to replenish as needed. Just like real plants they consume iron.

I have all sorts of stuff in my fuge… primarily chaeto, but the list is long :) Pretty sure there’s a peppermint shrimp and the largest emerald crab I’ve ever seen somewhere down there too.

Algea will grow in any habitable environment. Give it a place to grow or it will all grow in the display

Ok thank you all - so I do not need to put a turbo snail or anything in there to consume it?
