I have a 5 stage RO/DI unit with a pump to increase the flow going thru the unit. I have a pre-filter before the pump that gets algae on it from being in my garage and in the sun. This is the only filter that seems to get algae for some reason. My water has 2 tds going into the DI and 0 tds coming out. Will algae be able to make its way thru the whole system and into my water?

Great question !
I believe the algae spore to be much bigger than the ro membrane spores, so....yes, the RODI unit should take the algae out....but.....

The practice of installing any rodi unit should involve placing the unit in any direct sunlight or temps above 115*f ( don’t quote me on the exact temp)

Remove the algae and clean infected parts in a weak chlorine solution, rinse several times and place back into operation.

If algae is getting through to the ro membranes, they will just clog up faster and lower water pressure through the unit will be obvious.
