After about a month of running my sump, I’m noticing algae growing on glass. Is this normal?

Do you have a light down there? If so, then yes! Water, nutrients , light will generate algae.

Yeah, got a grow light down there for chaeto. Running it 24/7 and it is growing a lot faster than I thought it would. Should I turn off the light at night or should I even worry about the algae? I’ll include a pic.
Pretty bad pic but there a a little spot of it , definitely green hair algae.

Your light schedule should be based on your nutrients. If you are running 0 nitrates or phosphates because your algae is growing too much, then you'll want to cut the lights back. Otherwise, probably no need.

GHA isn't a big deal, just manually remove it. I had a hard time keeping macro algaes in my fuge for a long time, and for nearly a year the GHA was basically my fuge.

Honestly I let my GHA grow in my sump with cheato only thing I do is when it grows on cheato I pull it out. A algae scrubber without extra cost! Lol

Awesome thanks!

I would start your fuge at 8 hours opposite your display tank and then adjust the photoperiod up to a maximum of 18 hours until your NO3 and PO4 stay consistent.

If you go 24/7 you are likely to bottom out your nitrate or phosphate which will stunt your coral growth and possibly lead to a dino outbreak.
