I am starting up a new tank and have put in some Zia frags I got a the LFS. All other frags (not zoa) are good and clean. But these two have what looks like algae on them. I dipped prior to putting in and have dipped again.
What is it and how do I get rid of it?

hydrogen peroxide dip, zoas are pretty tough so you can get away with letting them soak for a minute or two. Grab a little container of tank water, drop the frag in, add peroxide until the plug starts to bubble.

Interesting about peroxide, I'll try that. I did try a toothbrush last night and was surprised how resilient the heads were.

thanks for the help!

I have one that looks just like this, I'm gonna be giving it a little dip when I get home!

I'm having the same problem with the algae... I can pull out two of the rocks where the zoas are and put some peroxide, but I have two that I glued on big rocks and while not impossible it kind of impractical to take out and dip or apply peroxide...

I saw a video of a guy turning off the pumps and squirting peroxide with a syringe around the zoas, the video claimed that it works just not as fast as dipping but still feasible when you can not pull the plugs out of the tank, do you think that will work?
