I’m having a bit of an algae issue in my tank. I’ve kept up with water changes, what would be the best way to get rid of it? I have a Red Sea max nano 20 gal tank.

Its inevitable in young tanks. If you dont already have a solid CUC you could go bacterial route. Which although it does take longer to see results with bacteria. The lasting effects is something to be desired as it will help ward off any potential issues in the future.

Microbacter Clean is targeted for surfaces and i use it every week in my tank. It has helped me with a very stubborn turf algae but it did take about 3-4 months to almost eradicate it from when i started it. That was also with a minimal CUC in my tank. So, that does lead me to believe it works well.

I would start by adding clean up crew to help you get a head start. Turbo snails. Trochus snails, nassarius snail( they don’t eat algae, but help you clean up excess food), emerald crab, or astrea snails. This problem will go away slowly with age of the tank, and this is common among new tanks. As your tank matures, more things will fight for that excess nutrient. Which will reduce your algae growth.
