I have a couple frags not doing so hot - both seem to have a bit of tissue recession and are growing a bit of algae in those recessed areas. I’ve read this happens because of the excess phosphate release in these areas - but what Im wondering is can they recover?
My param’s are all solid and the other 9 corals in the tank are doing great, including the other duncan right next to the one I got from LiveAquaria (mistake). I have a hunch the goni gets picked on by my gobies and shrimp, the polyps were extending today but they’ve been in for quite awhile. The duncan still comes out every day, but is clearly not thrilled.
I’d prefer to get them out before they do harm to the tank if there’s no hope at recovery. Definitely would like to keep ‘em if possible though, but I do feel like I have a couple runt species here.
When I was at the fish store last week almost half the goni’s in the batch I bought this one from were dead and covered in algae, which makes me think I have no hope for this one haha.
The duncan has been like this since he arrived - lost all of his green on the outer skeleton almost immediately. He’s been in the tank for a few months and has been about the same the entire time minus the algae kinda getting going lately.
Both were cheap - 1 being a goniopora (I know impossible to keep) and a duncan.
