I've recently developed brown algae on a bubblegum digitata as well as a rainbow Monti. Have other montis/digis without the same issue. Tried higher flow and lower. Nitrate 5ppm phophate .08.

On live coral. Only in the bubblegum Digi and rainbow Monti. I have ither Monti and Digi without issue. Recently changed from kessil to ati powermodule.

That is strange. The only algae that I have seen on live tissue was larger pieces floating around that got "caught." I have never even seen cyano grow on live tissue.

Keep basting them.

I had a bit on an orange setosa but that looked more like a bit of algae stuck on a polyp. That coral cleared and the digis got worse

I think its from the LEDs and too much light.
I've seen it on Digis and caps but only since switching to LED and trying to increase PAR. Had it happen as as low as 85-115 PAR from LED. Less light, more flow, small water changes help.

I'm thinking the lights also. Went from 2 kessil a360s to a 36" ATI powermodule led/t5 hybrid. Can't tell if I'm giving too much or too little light. I'm not familiar with the lightimg

Too much. But your acros can handle lots so move this one.
I've seen it with too much light and a slight bump in my nutrients at the same time.
I have a cap it was happening to, I now have it where it looks like nothing would grow due to lower light and it's fine. I haven't checked PAR there but guessing below 60.
I'm in the camp that either LEDs don't register properly on PAR meter OR that something to do with light colors not fully mixing. My lights are only 8" off the surface due to my canopy. I think LEDs are better mounted much higher (20") for a better spectrum mix, but just pure opinion.

Thanks. Didn't realize I needed to acclimate t5s.
I was running 2 a360 kessils 10 hours.
I put on 36" t5 4 bulb with LEDs powermodule last week and have had better response from acro but montis are pale and some have algae on them

Ive had this occur as well however it was on the bottom of the coral so I don't believe it was related to the lighting. I believe im dealing with Chrysophytes.
