got this hammer from someone else and it wasn’t doing too hot, but is coming around. got some algae growing on a part of the skeleton where a head use to be, should I manually remove? just worried about damaging the soft tissue of the living heads

I've always been told to use a turkey baster to clean coral with a gentle but firm blast. That should be able to get the algae off without damaging the coral.
