Algae on my back glass- good or bad?

My tank is 6 months old. 65 gallons with a sump, skimmer, HOB overflow. SG1.025. Ammonia 0. Ph 8.2. Alk 9.4. TDS in my RODI is 0. Phos & nitrates have been in recommended ranges, not at 0. I’m waiting on better tests to arrive so I can be more confident in those numbers. Ca & Mag 500, 1200. I’m learning about keeping everything in balance and so far, so good.

My question- what about the algae on my back glass? I clean the front & sides. Starting to get coralline on the glass. Is it beneficial to have the algae? Is it problem? The snails are happy!

What do you do with the back?

I have never cleaned the back glass as I like the look of it covered with algae. No issues there.

I only clean front and sides for my viewing pleasure, leave the back for inhabitants to graze, if it looks messy or too much, clean half off then other half 4weeks later, inhabitants and you are happy

If you like the look - don't clean it - I do not clean mine.

I don't clean mine. But I recently moved, and because it was exposed to air all of the coralline on my back wall died. Now my tank looks so clean! I may have to start scraping.

Thanks for the replies. I know that gsp will grow there. I have some that I might try to snip a little & move but not sure how to do that. What else can I do there? Lots of real estate available!

I never used to clean mine back in the day. Depends on what look your are going for.

I don't clean mine. I may scrape the coralline soon.

I had been leaving mine on the back for the snails and urchin to graze, but they seem to mainly stay on the rocks. I got kind of tired of the look so I am working at scraping it off, just a little at a time because I don't want to cause any drastic sudden changes to the chemistry of my water.
