Algae on sand bed

Hi,

I have had this gross algae residing on my sand bed for a bit now. What is this stuff? And how do I get rid of it?

Could be diatoms or dinoflagellates. Get a Fighting Conch or two.

not sure on the type of algae but syphoning your sand bed will do It easily. if your looking for a natural solution stromb snails will do it quickly

I have siphoned before and it just comes back in a couple of hours...

This is a symptom mostly of newer tanks...
