Hello,

I have this growing on my sand and I am not sure which type of algae it is. All my water specs are fine except my nitrate is a little high (it's a new and I have just added fish) but the algae was growing on the sand before the addition of fish anyway.

Please can you help me ID, and please advise on organic (ie no chemical additions) method of removal using the right CUC:

Its diatoms with sufficient light to turn it Green.
Reduce white lighting intensity and siphon loose to break possible matting and green buildup

OK thanks, I will reduce white light, but can you recommend a good diatom muncher? Would a conch and/or a sand sifting starfish help?

I am thinking too much about my tank, last night I dreamed about snails...
