Hey guys,

This is my first post, I am just wondering what type of algae this is! I have had the tank cycled for 4 months now. I began with nitrates at 10 ppm, for the first month. After a series of water changes I brought it down to 5! After dosing NoPox for 2 weeks I’ve had it down to 1ppm stable and lower than ever (Salifert). My phosphates are less than .03 (Hanna). Tank is a 28 gallon biocube, and I feed lightly. The algae does not look like green hair!

Welcome to Reef2Reef! Can we get a nice close picture?

Looks like it may be a type of Green Turf Algae. Usually it grows in matts that can be scraped with your fingernail from the rock in "matts". But it also grows almost as if just sprouting from the rocks and is thicker and can be wiry unlike the normal GHA.

I’m not sure if my pictures did it much justice. I will post some more tomorrow when the lights are on again. This algae is not like anything I’ve had before. But I’m unsure

Does the algae come out in the day and hide in the night? The picture is fuzzy but I fear that I see nitrogen bubbles in there :(

Are those lots of air bubbles in and under the algae in the 2nd and 3rd picture?
