Algae? Please help identify!

Is this Algae?

I have had it for a couple of months. Tried lights out for three days, and added a little GFO, but did not change at all.

It looks almost like a 1/4" white/grey fuzz. On most rocks.

Any ideas what this is, and how to make it go away?

Can't tell from the photo, but "white/grey fuzz" could be sponges.

Not sponges.. maybe fuzz is the wrong way to describe.. like 1/4" hair that covers the complete rock. It is grey/white almost see through. Hard to get my phone to capture the pic of it.

I have that too. Seems to only grow in shaded areas between rock work for me. Don't know what it is, but since it never extends into lighted areas, it doesn't bother me. Curious to see if anyone knows though.

This is directly in the light, on top of 50% of my rock.

I have the same algae in my new system , i can't find information online ...but it cover all surface in illuminated live rock little white- gray like yours...im running a kessil ap700 and 2 ati 39w as supplemental light...when i turn on the t5 5 hours a day it put worse with only the kessil at 35% intencity everything fine...

After a quick google search, it does not look like Dino's. Also, nothing on the sand bed.

Seeing as there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of chlorophyll there, is it possible that it's bacterial, rather than algae?

I've seen similar under some dark overhangs in my own tank - though not quite as thick.
