Hello my friends,

I am having some issues with my algae. My tank is around 2 to 2 1/2 months old and I thought I already went through the algae phase on rocks (Diatoms) during cycling. Can anyone help on why I am getting it back?

1st chamber... nothing because I decided to take out the skimmer to this tank after it made my return pump shoot out bubbles. 2nd chamber is the intank media basket. Filter floss on top, chemi pure blue in the middle slot with those white biomedia the tank came with and the 3rd slot I just put some sponge to catch anything remaining.

3rd chamber is just my return pump (stock) along with the heater.

Lights are on about 10 hours during the day. Temp is around 75-77.

If anyone could help with this issue, I hate because I just cleaned my tank Sunday and now it's really dirty again. Should I scrape the live rock with a tooth brush or something to get the excess algae off? I do weekly water changes as well. 15% change.

First picture was like 3 weeks ago and the other pics are of now as noticed it's been like that for a few weeks.

Any help would be great!

I'll try less feeding. I feed them 2 times a day but not a lot.

Light, yes may need to dim it down. I will eventually upgrade the lighting and adjust it to were the algae won't grow quickly. Not sir e

Any help would be really appreciative. I can not tell if it is Dino or just Diatoms

Looks like the start of hair algae. Check your po4. And maybe cut your light cycle to 8 hours. And maybe a couple trochus snails. Plus right before you do water changes, get in there with a toothbrush.

Thanks bud! I'll try the snails. I have one snail in there but it's not a troches snail. I think the light is also affecting it. I might just upgrade to a different one.
