Algae problem

Hi,

My friend has a thread algae problem and asked me to write here about it.
The problem started when he changed the T5's.

Parameters:
SG 1.025
KH 12
Ph 8.4-8.6
Ca 400
Mg 1350
Po4 0
No3 0

Temperature 25C (77F)

He is using TLF Bioplastic (800 grams)
TLF Carbon
TLF PhosBan

What could he do to make the algae disappear?

Any help would be great!

I had a cyanobacteria problem that I tried everything I could think of to resolve. Upgraded skimmer, upgraded GFO reactor, waterflow but nothing seemed to work. The only thing left was to stop dosing vinegar. After stopping this the problem started to clear up in two days and within one week the problem was resolved.

So with that being said, I would take carbon dosing offline to verify that is not the cause. Check to see if the skimmer is strong enough, you have enough GFO, carbon, etc.

Once you have done all of that. Turn off your lights and cover your tank with a blanket for 3 days. The algae will be greatly reduced. After one week repeat the lights out procedure.

One thing that I forgot to mention, Getting some macroalgae for the sump will help as well. I like Chaetomorpha, but have used a combination of Chaetomorpha and Grape Caulerpa and it worked well.

When you say thread algae, im thinkin hair algae, but if youve got a clean tank, then im thinkin Bryopsis, and now we are talking about goin the Manesium treatment way.
