Alright guys, I have a minor algae problem. Its not really a problem, its just annoying. If you look closely at the pictures you can see those green specs on my glass. Usually they come off when I clean my glass but you have to work pretty hard at it. At first I figured I had the lights on for to long since I did not have a timer. Can anyone tell me what this is? And how I could possibly get rid of this green algea?

As for most algae you generally want to reduce phosphates and nitrates. You can dose hydrogen peroxide but don't do that without knowing for sure the appropriate doses as it can kill a lot of stuff. And you can add a clean up crew to help maintain the tank cleaner after you solve the problem.

Looks like film algea. Invest in a mag float scraper or if it's coraline then you a cheap scraper of some kind. Coraline grows on literally everything and there's nothing you can do but scrape it. Just part of your daily maintenance

DO NOT dose hydrogen peroxide!! Find the source of the excess nutrients and deal with it accordingly (don't overfeed, make sure you're keeping a stable w/c schedule etc) keeping algaes at bay is easiest dealt with if you have a good way to export nutrients. The most common nutrient export obviously being water changes. If you have the space, I would reccomend setting up a refugium and placing some live rock/chaeto in it to help reduce those nutrients. Good luck !

Looks like green coraline algae. If it's hard to scrape off that's probably what it is. It's kind of a good problem to have.
