Nitrates 0 phosphate-0.03. Lights are arcadia series 6 which are run on their lps settingWhat are nitrates and phosphates? How long are the lights on? What type of lighting? One more thing, pics with that much blue will blur everything

YES the bottom one is a potato peeler from the dollar tree and the best one to use.

Thanks will give it a goYour photo period should be no more than 12hrs and preferably <10hrs. The red spectrum tends to promote algae. Your NO3 and PO4 are great. https://buddendo.home.xs4all.nl/aquarium/redfield_eng.htm and http://www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Aquarium_Lighting.html

I too am having algae issues to a much lesser degree. NO3 O ppm PO4 .08ppm ( hair algae-not alot but enough to annoy) Partly due to the loss of Coraline algae and may be because my alk is 7dkh. I use to be able to keep it around 8-9dkh. ( one thing to note algae maintains it's own Micro-environment at it's immediate location) grrrrrr:mad:

Please let me know how things work out for yah in the future. Thanks will give it a go
I will have a look. Thanks for your helpI have been using a product called Bacter Clean M by Continuum for 2 weeks. It malnourished the GHA(and this product is for algae). Once YOUR algae is weakened. Syphon it out with a 1/2" hose so you have better suction. It was brown. Then turned it to an olive green/faded white. Which means it is weakening and I can suck it out with the hose. Just do more smaller water changes every 2-3 days so you are not letting the dying algae become phosphates for healthier remaining algae. This stuff is good for detritus and phosphates. I have like 3 videos up on YouTube. 40B Knasty Bacter Clean M by Continuum. Best part. My corals are still growing while I am beating the GHA.
If you are going to use a toothbrush to scrub. Make sure you are cleaning your mechanical media every day or two days. Even better replace it by using filter floss/hyper allergenic pillow stuffing without the flame retardant/mold resistant spray. Otherwise it will just get caught up in your sponges/filter socks/filter floss and feed your existing algae, because it is decaying and turning into phosphates.
Here is a pic of the algae turning white. I closed up the polyps so you can get a good view of it.

ThanksAdy I'm new to the hobby so I don't know a ton. What I do know is this is bubble algae. If you bust bubble algae in your tank there will be spores that spread around the tank. You have to be sure to have your siphon tube near where you and removing the bubble algae in the event it bust. I have a small amount that I'm going to remove this weekend and plan what I suggested.
