algae question.help

Im having the same problem.. along with a brown algae that is growing with it. I was told by the guy at my LFS to increase the water flow at the bottom of the tank, but I don't know. :(

What is your lighting cycle? And yes more flow can help. Also where are you getting water from

I just got a t-5 dual light system, with an actinic and 10k light, and I have the water purifier that I add to my tap.. Is that good?? and I plan on adding a circulation pump to my tank, it is only 20g. Any suggestions??

That's your main problem there. Your using tap water in your tank. That will result in all kinds of algae and coral health problems. I would suggest purchasing your water from a trusted source (somewhere that has an RO/DI and keeps the TDS at or just above 0pm). Good luck and if you have more questions, feel free to ask.

Start using ro di water for water changes and top off. That would be a good first step. Also a couple korelia power heads 2x k2 and maybe add on a k1 would be good flow for a 20gal

I need three power heads for a 20g!? 0.o Will this work? http://marineland.com/sites/marineland/products/Detail.aspx?id=3421 in the 400 series??
and one other question what is RO/DI? :( i feel like such a newbie... lol

well number of powerheads will depend on the amount of money you got to spend... you could go out spend a nice chunk on a nice one that you could use on a tank upto 50gal. or spend a bit less on a couple power heads that will work...

rodi is filtered water, i cant explain it atm lol. but its beter for our tanks then just tap water. they put a lot of things into tap water that harms the vast amounts of life in a marine tank. ro di takes all this out to make clean water to mix with your salt, and to top off with

Is it possible either or both of you are getting indirect light on the tank? Everything from chandeliers to ceiling fans can contribute to unwanted algae growth. a friend of mine was affected by his inordinately large television! It had to be moved to stop the algae!
