So I have had my tank setup about 4 1/2 months now and imam still getting more algae on the rocks and glass than I would think I should be at this point. How long will it be until my tanks stabilizes and this algae goes away. I need to get my nitrates and phosphates checked. I have cheato in my sump to help with nutrient export.

Algae will not necessarily go away. If you have a source that is feeding it, it will stay and sometimes get worse. What type of algae is it do you know?

I have green hair algae and the brown film on the glass. Could my photoperiod be to long. I run six t5s for 12 hours a day over 75 gallon tank

Ok what do you need to know? 75g with a 30g sump. I have about 90lbs of live rock. I have a DIY protein skimmer that runs 24/7. As stated above I run 6 t5s, 3 actinic, 2 12000k and 1 10000k 12 hours a day. 10% weekly WC with neomarine salt. I add alk and cal daily

A pair of clowns, a sand sifting goby, an algea blenny, and most recently a yellow eye tank. 3 turbo snails and about a dozen blue lag hermits. I also have a handful of corals, LPS and SPS.

Anything I'm missing?

I would add some Astrea Snails and maybe a Sea Hare, problem is the Sea Hare will eat itself out of food and die so be ready to take it out and back to the LFS. Also cut your lighting period back to 10 hours max.

Do you run any type of phosphate removal media? Do you use RO/DI water?

At this moment I am not running any phosphate removal media. I do use RO/DI for top off as well as for water changes.

I'm going to have to go and get my nitrates and phosphate tested to make sure these are in check
