algae reactor question

ok so I set and algae reactor last Sunday. I kinda went the diy route. I am using TLF 550 , and the red/ blue led strip from Amazon . it's been running 7 days with the lights on for 14 hours a day. myphosphates are at .27 using the hanna checker, not sure if nitrates ( haven'tgotten a test for that yet. my question is when will the cheato start growing ?

The more nitrates that the chaeto absorbs, the faster it will grow. This can vary a lot based on water parameters and lighting from what I understand.

Just be patient, give it a few weeks.

had my water tested over the weekend, my phosphates are at .27 and my nitrates are undetectable

Do you know what nitrates where before the algae reactor when in? I'm thinking about getting the skimz mbr127.

I almost never check for nitrates, usually I just check calcium, alk , my rkl has a ph probe , that usually all I check for. but the last time I had my water tested my nitrates we undetectable.

Give it sometime. I made a similar reactor and after 2 weeks my chaeto take off but then I did start to feed my tank more often.

how well did it work for you ?? did it bring down you nutrients alot ?
