Algae rector for Nuvo 40

Any nuvo 40 owners thought of or are currently running an algae rector like the MD aquamaxx diy algae rectors on your tanks?

I run my stock pump and a MP10. That's it. No skimmer, media reactor or fuge. No real need for one on mine. I do a 5gal WC every other week.

I do a 10 g water change every week and I keep getting cyano outbreaks. I do feed a lot just seeing if it makes since or is capable to run a that type of reactor.

I would cut back feeding and run chemiclean before trying a reactor. Two doses of chemiclean and a couple big water changes should help. Also up your flow if possible.

I know everyone harps on flow but I have 2 mp10s turned on reef crest at 75%-80% max plus sicce 2.5 as my return. Ive done the h202 dosing which worked for a while but it made its way back so I may give chemiclean a shot.

Does anyone have algae in their sump areas? I dont have any in my main tank but the Kessil light shines into the sump area and I think that's why i have some algae in each chamber. Just seeing if that's normal and or what you all suggest?

I get a slight build up of algae on top of the baffles. I run Kessils on my IM40 also. I usually clean it off with a toothbrush weekly.

Ok cool, I just had a lil spike in ammonia so Im gonna clean it good this weekend and do a little bigger water change then normal. LOVING my tank though. Cant wait to get the doser fixed and running properly so I can travel without worry.

Did you decide to use the algae reactor ?

I have the same tank and have been debating on it as well, I run a tunze 9004 skimmer do weekly water changes and still want to run the algae reactor to increase feedings.
