What is the BEST algae scrapper for a glass aquarium. I've been using a Piranha for a few years, but it's worn out.
Is anybody making a new and improved model ?

I always buy the kits with interchangeable heads.

I’ve used Algae Free, Flipper, Tunze, Mag Float, and a few generic brands. My favorite and the one I keep in the tank is the Tunze, I like it better than all of the other ones. The only one that even comes close for me is the Algae Free, and ultimately I went with the Tunze over it because it can’t get sand trapped in it and scratch the glass.

This. The tunze plastic blades. I scratched the crap out of my tank with a flipper. Never again

I build my own and use stainless steel single sided blades.

I use Flippers for both of my 200g tanks for regular algae maintenance and an algae scraper by Two Little fishes for tougher algae and coralline algae - and it works like a charm. Comes in 2 sizes + blade options for acrylic and and glass tanks.

I just replaced my Flipper with a Tunze. The Flipper flatly refused to scrape off the stubborn stuff - even with new blades. The Tunze runs through everything effortlessly, even below the sand. Well worth every cent in my opinion.

But in all fairness, the Flipper was the standard version, and the Tunze is a Strong+. The Flipper Max may work as well as the Tunze+ at algae removal, but the Tunze beats it hands down for not trapping sand between the scraper and the glass.
