My 32g tank is still new (4 months) and I'm having a GHA issue. Cyano too, but taking care of that already. My nutrients are close to my targets (Po4: .049, Nitrates: 5). My CUC seems to have lost their taste for it (lots of snails, red and blue legged hermits, pitho crab, halloween urchin, emerald crab, and tiger conch).

I'm debating trying UV or an algae scrubber. Which would be more effective for GHA and more useful in the long run? It's a biocube, so limited space, but I think I could get a drop in version in my second chamber.

UV won’t make any difference as it only kills what goes through it.

You may need to review what your using for phosphate removal as if you have GHA it’s probably using phosphate as a food source and thus giving false low readings

Maybe a bit of GFO, or more water changes maybe in a cube. And also take a look at what food your using

Carbon dose 80proof vodka... been doing it successfully for 3yrs..once I stopped for 2wks and GHA reappear like a swamp.monster but went back to vodka at it disappeared

I do a 15% WC each week (skipped a week as I was out of town, but do it every Sunday normally). I run activated carbon and purigen and a fairly ineffective skimmer. I feed once a day, either some small pellets or 1/4 of a cube of reef frenzy (4 fish). My fish wish I fed more LOL. The Po4 reading is the highest it's ever been - that test was after my 2 week vacation and a 20% WC once I got back. It's normally around .025ish.

My LFS suggested that I change my carbon more often as they think it is leaching back into the tank after 4 weeks. I had been changing it at the 6 week mark, so now I'll target 3 weeks and see if that helps.
