Algae scrubber users

For those using algae scrubbers, do you have slightly elevated P04 levels? I am running an algae scrubber and have P04 around .1 but theres little to no algae in my DT and my scrubber is growing like crazy. Is this something normal or do I need to dig deeper to solving the issue?

What’s your NO3 at? The redfield ratio might be out of whack and that’s why the PO4 is higher. You may have to dose some nitrates to get the phos down.

If everything in the tank is happy tho, I wouldn’t recommend chasing numbers.

I keep getting reading of 0 - .02 nitrate using the salifert test kit. Maybe I'll dose some nitrates but I've just always been hesitant to do so

No need to dose if everything is good.

Your nitrate 0~0.02 is too low to keep PO4 low. My practice is dosing nitrate to 5.0 to reduce po4 to around 0.03 if feeding is maximized.
