I've had a sump with refugium and have used the triton method for over 2 years. I even used miracle mud, or sand in my refugium. Also live rocks and macro which works great. I just have refugium light on opposite of my display tank. Help keep PH in line. I also have a BRS reactor running gfo, carbon, and a biopellet reactor. Then a skimmer. I just top off the water.
