algae vs siporax

Hi all.

I would like your thoughts on getting rid of the algae in my sump and replacing it for siporax.
Pro's and Cons? Do you have experience with siporax, is there something else i could use?

If you have phosphate issues, it better to keep macroalgae also, since siporax is mostly useful for nitrates.
