algae,,what to do?

I have a sps tank,,lots of flow on the top,not so much on the bottom half where i keep my softies.have green algae that blows off easy with a baster on my rocks and sand,phosphates .03..havent checked nitrates recently,,,wondering what to use to rid the tank,and determine what it actually is?

Could you get a pic of the algae? And in most scenarios, algae crops up with high nitrates. Could be lighting too, but I'd think the prior is the culprit.

The only way to really reduce algae in your tank is fix the base problem, ie nitrates. Physical removal works on the eyesight level, but it will always come back if nutrients are imbalanced.

Do you have a tank thread so that I can understand your system and your husbandry?

All coral need the same nutrients that all algae need. In many cases, nuisance algae thrive at low nutrient levels that will outcompete corals. Try Dino’s, gha or Cynobacteria and see if they don’t outcompete coals when nutrients are low.

That may be the case,never considered dosing nitrates,but that may be something to consider.will try feeding more first an see what happens
