Algae with fronds

Caulerpa mexicana or similar species

If from the gulf or Florida it's more than likely mexicana

Makes sense, I have some TBS sand in the tank. Good, bad or otherwise? 48 hours ago I noticed my first green algaes in the tank (two months old). I've had some brown until now and suddenly started seeing green coloring about the tank.

I have a large UV on the tank running 23 hrs a day, hoping to keep the uglies in check. I know I can't avoid them entirely, but I'm hoping I can ease my way through it.

I use that, prolifera and chaeto in my refugium. Some people hate caulerpa, I personally like it.

Mexican Caulerpa doesn't grow as fast as prolifera.
