Yea. Ammonia spikes are just part of the cycling until the bacteria in the tank can "eat" it. After a healthy colony, you should never see ammonia in your tank again.

Is there alot of algae or just green water? Or both? I used chemipure blue on my old 20g Nuvo and it worked well. Cleared the water right up.

1. Did you use RODI water?
2. Did you leave the lights on or off while cycling?

Your tank is cycled. Get a CUC together

Get a maintenance routine setup

Algae will appear on the glass which I clean off but at the moment it's just green water

I still use RODI water now. I had the lights in during the cycle but they are off now.

Activated Carbon also works well to clear water, uv , chemipure blue as well.

I always cycle my tank with lights off. When tank is new you don't want nuisance algae taking hold because there is nothing in there to compete with it. You want all the other good organisms staking claim to real-estate before turning on the lights.

Wish I could empty and start from scratch

If it's algae, turn off the lights. It'll die back, and make sure to do water changes so all the nitrate and phosphate doesnt leach back i to the water from the algae.

Woke up this morning and the tank is getting better. Will be doing a 10% water change this week
